GA's Kegley and Lau are state champions, other Red Terrors also place

GA'S KEGLEY AND LAU ARE STATE CHAMPIONS, OTHER RED TERRORS ALSO PLACE

By Kevin Price For GCS Athletics Glynn Academy’s wrestling team closed out a tremendous season with a strong showing this past weekend at the Georgia High School Association Traditional State Championships in Macon. Glynn’s Hunter Kegley won a state title in the 126-pound weight class with a victory by fall in the final. The GA senior completed the season with a 50-4 record. He follows former GA wrestler Jackson Wakeland who recently won back-to-back state crowns for the Red Terrors. Also for Glynn, female wreslter Marigona Lau won a state title. The sophomore becomes the first female from Glynn County to win a state crown. The Terrors also had other wrestlers who placed in their respective classes. Junior Phil Cuttino finished as the runner-up in the 138-pound division while senior Cade Morgan placed third at 157 pounds. Ryan Alfau was sixth at 132 for Glynn, and Aiden Waters was sixth at 144. The Terrors finished fourth in the final team standings for Class AAAAAA. Earlier, they finished second in the state in team duals, settling for the runner-up spot after falling in a tiebreaker with area rival South Effingham which the Terrors wrestled in the state team final.
