BORDER CLASSIC GAME 3 RECAP: UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN BLANKS CHARLTON COUNTY, 33-0
Border Classic - Game 3 Recap
University Christian 33, Charlton County 0
University Christian blanked Charlton County in Friday’s opening game at the Border Classic held at Glynn County Stadium.
The Christians (3-0) took advantage of early miscues by the Indians to grab an early 14-0 lead and never allowed Charlton (3-1) to get untracked offensively while playing the entire way without its regular starting quarterback.
University Christian started its first drive deep in Charlton territory following an errant punt snap. Orel Grady, its featured running back, scored on a 3-yard run to give the Christians the lead. They also got a 35-yard interception return by Allen Woods in the opening quarter for an early 14-0 lead.
The Christians made a fourth-down stop midway through the second period, and they used 13 plays to cover 43 yards for a touchdown in the closing second of the first half. Backup quarterback Brady Wright scored on a keeper from 2 yards out.
University Christian’s defense scored a second time just moments into the third quarter when a high snap by the Indians was picked up off the artificial turf and returned 9 yards for a touchdown by Dallas Brown III.
The Christians would convert an interception by Ryan Oakley in the third quarter into another touchdown. Quarterback Dwayne Stuckey hit Jenoa Alford for a 28-yard scoring strike. The final tally was on the scoreboard late in the third.
The final quarter was played with an automatic running clock because of the 30-point lead.
