BORDER CLASSIC GAME 1 RECAP: MCINTOSH WINS BIG OVER WEST NASSAU

Border Classic - Game 1 McIntosh County Academy - 42 West Nassau - 8 McIntosh County Academy used a punishing ground attack to roll past West Nassau in the opening game Thursday afternoon in the first Border Classic at Glynn County Stadium. , The Buccanners (2-1), who made the short trip to Brunswick from Darien to play in the inaugural event, churned out 352 rushing yards on the way to the convincing win. Senior running back Deondray Bacon was named Game MVP after scoring two touchdowns for the Bucs. He scored on runs of 2 and 5 yards in the first half as MCA built a 28-8 lead before halftime. McIntosh gained 253 yards in the first two quarters with Bacon carrying nine times for 70 yards in the opening half. Monte Stokes had four carries for 136 yards prior to the break as he scored MCA’s first touchdown on the game’s opening possession when he darted 62 yards to the end zone. The Bucs also scored on a fumble return by senior linebacker Lake Linton on West Nassau’s first possession for an early 14-0 lead. The Warriors scored their only touchdown late in the first period on a 7-yard run by Chris Crews who also converted a two-point run. Following a scoreless third period, the Bucs made it 35-8 just moments into the final frame on a 36-yard pass from Nehemiah West to Stokes. Freshman running back Lorenzo Reed punctuated the win for the Bucs with a late 64-yard scoring run. Senior Madi McMahan was 6-for-6 on extra-point tries.
