BHS SECOND, GLYNN THIRD AT REGION TRADITIONAL WRESTLING MEET

The Brunswick High Pirates finished second Friday in the Region 1-AAAAA traditional wrestling tournament while Glynn Academy finished third.
The tournament took place at Glynn Academy.
In the earlier region team duals tourney, Brunswick also took second while Glynn also finished third.
South Effingham won both the team duals and the traditional event. The Mustangs went on to finish second in Class AAAAA while the Pirates took fourth in the state duals.
In traditional wrestling, each team’s wrestlers compete individually in their respective weight classes. Individual competitors qualify for state by finishing in the top four in their weight groups.
The wrestlers also earn points for their teams based on their finishes within their weight class. The team with the most points is awarded the team championship.
South Effingham, Brunswick and Glynn are all among the top teams in the state.
The top four finishers in each weight class from Friday’s region competition will now go on to compete this weekend in state sectionals.

Also for Brunswick, Joe Demery finished third in his weight class while Kishno Taylor placed fourth in his class.
Preston Young will be a Sectional alternate for BHS.

For GA, the runners-up were:

For Glynn, the third-place finishers were:
