Brunswick finishes fourth in state at duals

BRUNSWICK FINISHES FOURTH IN STATE AT DUALS

The Brunswick High wrestling team finished fourth this past Saturday in the Class AAAAA state duals held in Douglasville. The Pirates dropped their opening match but came back through the consolation bracket to earn a spot in the third-place match. Ranked fifth in the state going into the Region 1-AAAAA duals, the Pirates finished second in the region to earn a spot in state. South Effingham, the top-ranked team in the state, won the region. The Mustangs finished as the state runner-up on Saturday after falling in the title match to Creekview, 36-35. BHS finished with a 14-5 record in the dual season. Brunswick will now get ready for the traditional wrestling postseason which will include another region tourney and also a state tournament.
