BHS, GA SET TO MEET ON VOLLEYBALL COURT

GCS Staff The Glynn Academy and Brunswick High volleyball teams will meet for the first time this season on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Terrors and Lady Pirates are set to face off in a 5 p.m. match at BHS. Glynn will go to Brunswick for the Region 2-AAAAAA match with a 2-2 overall record. The Lady Terrors have lost each of their first two region matches. Glynn opened the season dropping league contests to both Effingham and South Effingham away from home by 2-0 scores on Aug. 23. On Tuesday, the Lady Terrors won a pair of non-region matches over Bryan County and Savannah High by 2-0 scores on the road. Players to watch for Glynn include senior outside hitter Karley Neundorfer, freshman middle hitter Izzy Counsil, junior hitter Allie Futch and senior hitter Riley Mansfield who is committed to Tulane. The Lady Pirates are 4-6 on the season and have not played a region match to date. Senior middle blockers Shane’ Jackson and Shamya Flanders, both standouts for the BHS basketball team, give the Lady Pirates a strong presence in the front row. “Our team is trying to find its identity,” said BHS coach Jasmine Hubbard. “We have a young team with freshmen and sophomores playing big roles. Our goal for the season is to play well consistently.”
